Unfortunately, I have 2 parcels coming now through SmartPost. At first I thought that it would be a normal FedEx service, but Estimated Delivery Dates made me wonder and search for 'SmartPost' on Google and it got me here. I see it was establish back in 2006 or whatever and some people were saying how company is still new and eventually it will get better, but it's 2010 now and hey, how come we are still on the same spot? I'm tracking my shipments now and look:

Aug 11, 2010 5:19 AM Departed FedEx location FEDEX SMARTPOST DALLAS, TX
Aug 12, 2010 2:11 PM Arrived at FedEx location FEDEX SMARTPOST HOUSTON, TX

Took them 33 hours to get from Dallas to Houston. How is that possible? Now, I'm only 3 hours away from Houston and according to Estimated Delivery Dates, it will get here after 6 more days! What in a world could be worse than this? I don't know much how logistics work, but I do know that something is not right here, so as a customer I will try to avoid SmartPost in any way I can. Wouldn't buy from that retailer again..

This demon child of FedEx should definitely be axed if FedEx has any concern over its reputation. When I pre-ordered a CD on Amazon a month ago, I was told that my delivery would be here around 8/6-8/10. So that's what i was thinking would be the time. When the CD was actually released and it was time to ship it out, the delivery estimate changed to 8/10. I wasn't too thrilled about that, but I figured it might come early anyway because I've had many items come from Amazon (both direct and through the Marketplace) before the first range in the delivery estimate range since I joined in 2005. They send me my tracking info saying that it has been shipped via USPS. "OK", I think,"it shouldn't be that long." WRONG!

First of all, I knew nothing about ShitPost so I was plugging the number into the USPS tracker system and was told they had no record. When Amazon's page finally update the tracking, I saw that it originally left from Louisville, KY, Indianapolis, and the oh so infamous Grove City, OH FedEx ShitPost centers. So I plugged the info into the FedEx site and found out who was really shipping my item, along with a different delivery estimate of 8/11. Now 8/10 is almost over and I know I'm not receiving today or tomorrow as I called FedEx and they told me that delivery means delivery to the post office. From then on, their tracking stops and the Post Office takes over. Then you have to wake another X days. He also said that it is not a time sensitive shipping option so it could take anywhere from 1-11 shipping days to get a package. I'm sorry, but I thought when I was ordering my package that 3-5 business days was the standard? I also thought delivery meant delivery to your address, not to the Post Office! with FedEx ShitPost, everything you thought you ever knew about shipping is gone. Maybe if this was a CD that I could wait a couple of weeks for (although I've been told a week or less!) I wouldn't care so much. The thing is that I'm seeing that same artist next Monday 8/16 and would like him to sign it at the meet and greet. With all the horror stories that I'm seeing, I don't know if that is possible with the days constantly going by. Thanks to you, FedEx, I may just have to rip out a sheet of notebook paper, write the artist and album name on it, and say "sorry, I pre-ordered it, honestly I did, but FedEx and Post Office refuse to send it to me." I may have to buy another copy at the show, which is redundant when I already have one on the way, but who knows anymore!

oh yeah, I ordered a textbook for class last night from textbooks.com. They shipped it today and I should expect it on 8/12. The tracking has already been update 3x today. Guess who it was? UPS! It would be a shame if all my books, even the ones from USPS, come before the CD which was shipped a week ago!!!

Has anyone had ANY luck going to the Post Office to try and retrieve your package. I'm tempted to do that if it ever gets there. Apparently, it takes a day for a 0.3lb package to go to the other side of town.

Hey FedEx_Employee,

SmartPost sucks, FedEx sucks for using SmartPost, and YOU suck with your lousy attitude toward customers. I remember way back when FedEx clawed its way to the top with its "Customer is always right" type of service. SmartPost does NOTHING to ease shipping hassles, so stop with your big lie. It's all about money. I thought a package of mine was shipped Priority Mail this past Monday, and I would have had it on Wednesday or yesterday at the latest. So today it finally shows up in the tracking as SmartPost with an expected delivery date of next Tuesday (?!?!?!). WTF is this crap?! I never had a problem receiving shipments on time before.

So FedEx_Employee, stop blaming the truckers and the weather for your non-existent service. It's mid-summer here and we are on the verge of a drought (big word that means we have been low on rain, son). My package is sitting in a building 15 minutes away from me and the delivery date is 5 days away. I can't even pick it up myself because your system is not set up for that. Go get a REAL job with a REAL company that actually wants to serve its customers instead of hiring a low-paid, sorry excuse for an employee like you to cover for them. Then after punching out for the day, you can go back home to Mommy and Daddy to play video games in their basement for the rest of the night. Some day you might finally grow up and join the real world, boy. Don't try to lecture us on jobs and the economy. It's painfully obvious that you are not one of the great economic minds of our time, nor do you have any appreciation for customer service. And did they ever teach you grammer in school?

FedEx smartpost with USPS is very bad. I agree with the views above that the service should be avoided. Packages sit at their sites and go nowhere for days.

Smart Post is a terrible service. I would have rather spent a few extra dollars to have Fex Ex deliver the item to my door, then hand it over to the idiots at my post office. I ordered a package on 6/29. After a few weeks, I started wondering why I hadn't received it, so I looked up the tracking number.. and it showed DELIVERED! I couldnt believe it. I called up Fed Ex to ask what happened, and they said it was handed to the post office for final delivery and that I would need to speak to them. So, I did. Well, it turns out the person at the post office tried to deliver my package, which had the correct address I might add, to the foreclosed vacant house next door!!! She marked it delivered first, then saw it was vacant, and never bothered to change the tracking information. She *thinks* she returned it to the sender. Yeah, ok. Honestly, I think she stole it. I contacted Woot to see if they received it back, but I don't think they did. They haven't emailed me or contacted me about an undeliverable package. We'll see what they say. What really sucks is that I bought this stuff from Woot.com, and they don't have an inventory. I just wish they would have used Fed EX for the entire delivery!! Smartpost makes it too east for people to steal packages because there are two shipping companies and no accountability. I just hope I can get my stuff, and I'll be letting Woot know that if they intend to use Smartpost for shipping again, I will not be buying anything from them again.

FedEx Smartpost is a complete waste of time. I have had the misfortune to have had two shipments via this method. First one took 15 days from MA to AZ. Second one still in route. Left Milwaukee, WI went to Chicago,,,,then back to New Berlin, WI and is currently sitting in Phoenix,,,,,,,,,we think. Refuse to do business with sellers who use this poor excuse for shipping.

I'm an employee for FedEx SmartPost. Most of you can't just blame SmartPost in general. I agree that it's a backwards leap for production but it was created to help ease shipping hassles (that eventually hasn't been working for some of you) & to also give more job opportunities for our economy. You all can't just blame SmartPost for all of the faults of your late arriving packages. We do live in an imperfect world. It's called weather. There's times when we have to rush & there's times when we have to wait hours at a time for shipment (from the truckers) to arrive. Some truckers love to take their time arriving to the warehouse & there's truckers that have to face weather conditions. So, I wish that those of you who came on here bitching & complaining would stop judging the company & actually look in depth of why some of your packages don't arrive or come late. Nobody's perfect because there are truckers who take stops & steal packages. Think twice before you say something. At least FedEx was thinking of ways to help people escape part of the economy's downfall.

Yes, Smartpost does indeed suck mightily. Ordered two new boxes of contact lenses. 15 days later the FEDEX tracking system said they had been delivered, but they couldn't tell me who they had been delivered to. Post office (not the sharpest tools in the shed either) were adamant that they had not seen the shipment. Luckily Lens.com has agreed to re-send the shipment for free. We'll see how that goes.

I just ordered something from Borders that said it would be shipped through the US Postal Service-which I love because I am in Hawaii and we love the USPS - they are very fast and affordable! We order online a lot and the USPS gets us our packages within 3-5 days and it is so much cheaper than UPS or FEDEx. But then when I received my confirmation email, is said it was coming FXSP, so in researching FXSP to see what it was, I found this site. Now I am worried that I won\'t receive my books in time for my book club meeting! I wish I had ordered through Amazon; they still use USPS to Hawaii!
