I just ordered something from Borders that said it would be shipped through the US Postal Service-which I love because I am in Hawaii and we love the USPS - they are very fast and affordable! We order online a lot and the USPS gets us our packages within 3-5 days and it is so much cheaper than UPS or FEDEx. But then when I received my confirmation email, is said it was coming FXSP, so in researching FXSP to see what it was, I found this site. Now I am worried that I won\'t receive my books in time for my book club meeting! I wish I had ordered through Amazon; they still use USPS to Hawaii!

StupidPost!!!!

I should have just drove 10 minuets to my damn GNC store! The warehouse is in Arizona and I live in SD, so it should have only taken 4 days! My package came to LA in 2 days, I thought I would get it the next day since I am 1 county away...

WRONG!!! My package then shipped half way across the country where it has been sitting around for 5 days! I called FedEx 3 times, and GNC twice! GNC accused FedEx of putting my package on the wrong truck, and FedEx accused GNC of putting the wrong label on my package. FedEx said they put a flag on my package. I called them back today, 2 days after my estimated delivery date, and now they are saying they delivered it to USPS and it\'s out of their hands.

I have no idea if I am EVER going to get my supplements, but I do know that I will NEVER use FedEx StupidPost again!!!

I\'m having two very different experiences with SmartPost... two packages shipped on the same day, one from California, one from Missouri. I live in New York, and I got the one from California this morning, 2 days faster than their estimate of Friday. The other one, though...

Currently I have a package trapped in the Smartpost system. Fedex\'s customer service has been anything but helpful. The dude I spoke with yesterday sounded like I was bothering him by asking questions. And USPS...that idiot I spoke with had no clue the USPS even worked with Fedex???? I feel like I have waited long enough for this package. Yet I am still told to wait. Here is the tracking information.

I forgot to mention that in the middle of January I had a expected delivery date of 01/19/10. On the 19th I checked tracking and the delivery information was gone.

Wow. What a complete failure. I have a package sitting 45 miles away for 3 days. Called Fedex to expedite it but apparently when its sent smartpost there is absolutely nothing they can do.

Why on earth would a package leave a fedex facility and then come back to the same facility? It defies all business logic.

Also, if it\'s sitting at their facility and they see its not getting delivered, why can\'t fedex pull it and just deliver it for me? Instead I get the run around saying that USPS \"probably\" has it. But as you can see the history has it in the FexEx Facility for the past 24 hours. Which according to the rep is not always updated.

Way to go, Fedex, you officially suck.

Wow...glad to see that at least I\'m not alone here!

I\'m currently waiting for a simple exchange from a company right now and have watched my FedEx SmartPost delivery date change twice. I\'m in the midwest and I\'ve watched my package go from Ohio to Pottstown, PA (where it spent Dec. 9th - Dec. 15th and was listed as arriving and departing four times throughout the course of those days), and now it\'s in West Virginia? It\'s been nine days total, and they are getting pretty close to making a nice little circle within a tri-state area, but certainly not any closer to actually getting to me.

I think this blog/forum is more than enough evidence that this is a ridiculously poorly-run operation. I would like to suggest to everyone that you take a minute out of your day and (either instead of or in addition to writing your complaints here) write them up with the Better Business Bureau: http://www.bbb.org/wisconsin/business-reviews/not-elsewhere-classified/fedex-smartpost-in-new-berlin-wi-1000001352/ . Just click on the link to file a complaint and enjoy yourself, or write them a letter directly:

FedEx SmartPost
16555 West Rogers Drive
New Berlin, WI 53151

Let\'s quit letting them get away with this kind of crap, and at least make them realize how much their piss poor service is irritating their dwindling customer base. Also, why not contact the company that decided to ship you something using SmartPost and give them a heads-up that they might not want to associate their business with such a shoddy shipping company.

Good luck, fellow consumers!

I cannot understand why any company that ships would use smartpost.
It takes longer than you could possibly imagine, and it is nearly impossible
to track. I would gladly pay a few extra $ (if it is even that much) to go
via UPS or USPS Priority Mail. Sorry Fedex, but the
\"absolutely positively has to be there..\" may still ring true,
but the question is where is \"there\"?
USPS Priority mail is much faster, and UPS has the best tracking anywhere. Fedex you just don\'t rate.

I have two packages from different venders both coming Smartpost. Both of them keep going leaving Kansas City and then a couple of day coming back into Kansas City. I called Fedex and they say it is the Post office. The post Office says they know nothing about it. Fedex Smartpost is DUMB. I am wandering if I will ever see the packages.

Fed-ex smart post is very slow, and does some odd things. I bought a few t-shirts online, they shipped via fed ex on October 13 from Kansas City going to the Phoenix area. The package arrived in Dallas on October 15th, and arrived in Denver on Ocotber 18th. Only to be shipped back to Dallas on October 21. The item finally arrived in Phoenix today, and will take another 2 days to get here probably. 12-13 days seems to be a pretty long period of time to ship something. Nevermind the fact it\'s called smartpost and the service redundantly ships the package back and forth between two cities.

I normally do not ship much and try to either use UPS or USPS to send my packages. I have also used FedEx in the past with relative success. However, now the big names have come up with a way to be completely irresponsible for their service and in the process make it “cheaper” for its users. Announcing Fedex Smartpost. I really wonder how executives at these shipping companies can come up with this horseshit and put it into production without performing a reality check. I see Fedex Smartpost as a way for Fedex and USPS to completely deny any accountability for a package shipped through this service, thus reducing overhead normally associated with extra checks and balances to control loss and/or mistakes. This makes everyone concerned look really, really bad. They need to hire better marketing and managerial folks.
I was shipped a small package through this service and somehow it got lost in the shuffle. However, now Fedex has no way of tracking it, nor does USPS. They both asked me to visit the others’ website/phone support to get it resolved. I shudder to think what would have happened if this package was expensive or had an insurance claim of some kind. Needless to say, I will never ship anything again (or have anything shipped to me) with any “Smartpost” type service. I really like accountability and would like to think that my carriers are responsible enough and reliable enough to want be accountable since they sell reliability and their business models are based on reliability of service. If anyone reading this was thinking about using Fedex Smartpost, I would strongly suggest against it. Save yourself the hassle and the line of flaming dog poop that these people are offering and pay a few bucks extra to use a better service.

I ordered from Coldwater Creek on the 22nd of Dec. and they shipped SmartPost and charged me $16.95 for shipping. I still don’t have it 10 days later. What a ripoff. Sending it by Fedex alone would have been cheaper and more effecient.

Having these same problems at the current moment. I ordered a nintendo wii bundle from circuitcity.com. The bundle includes 2 games, extra controller and of course the system. Well, the 2 games and extra controller were shipped USPS and got to my house in 2 shipping days. The system however, was shipped via smartpost. It was shipped out the 5th, got to the Grove City, Ohio “sortation center” on the 6th, and fedex tracking says that it has been there ever since! With a $250 package I’m getting a little worried…

Ok, I have read enough bashing about FedEx SmartPost. For those of you that don’t have a clue about logistics; as I can tell by your comments you don’t, a sortation center is basically the same as the post office calls a Bulk Mail Center. They receive the parcels; or mail for those of lesser minds, and sort it to the closest zip code allowing direct delivery of items from a shipper. Which FedEx SmartPost has got down to most of your local post offices.

As for delivery times for SmartPost verses FedEx Ground… Both take the exact time to deliver to your home. 2-7 days, and since FedEx SmartPost is using the Postal Service for final delivery, I would say that is damn good.
Now for the pricing issue I have read about. Let me just say that most of the places you would order from not only charge you the amount for shipping, but they also charge you to package the item and handle it until it is picked up…
To end this rambling, let me just say before you go blasting a company, know your facts.

I am currently experiencing the same Black Hole of Sortation Centers. My Wii has been apparently sitting in the Earth City, MO Sortation Center for 5 days now. Comparing this to standard FedEx service is a joke, as the logistics of their entire distribution system appears flawed. I have never seen this type of problem with UPS or the post office. I mean, cmon, they are making me DEFEND THE POST OFFICE! Something tells me that I can probably make a large bid on my Wii on Ebay thanks to Joe Schmo Sorter from the Sortation center swiping packages. That would explain how nobody can get any, yet there are 1000’s on Ebay.

I’ve had other issues with FedEx too. Like needing a signature for pickup on an item. They habitually leave a note saying “we missed you at 1PM, we will try again tomorrow after 4PM”. Yet, leave work early the next day, and the SAME note is there because they missed me at 1PM again.

I just do not understand why Becker uses this horrible service of Fedex. I called Fedex three times to ensure that they hold my package so that I can pick them up by myself. As you know the Becker Review course is very expensive, therefore, I do not want them to just leave in front of my door. The center on 700 Wise Rd in Schaumburg IL, never paid attention to the message sent by the Fedex Headquarter. I really doubt that this is the first time. In addition, the service hour is very short. You cannot pick your package like 5pm, they are close!! I am hoping that Fedex loosing customers from doing this Home Delivery service so that they do not offer this cheaper and annoying service. I do not mind paying more monies as long as good service.
Fed-Ex SmartPost Sucks! I am going through the same problem with ordering a Wii from Circuit City as well. I have read countless complaints about this new disaster of a service from FedEx all over the Internet. This forum here is only one among many with people complaining about this (dis)service. I ordered the Wii and a one game from CC at the same time. The game got to me one business day later being shipped directly with USPS. The Wii console, shipped with FedEx StupidPost has circumnavigated the United States all around my state of Alabama going from Oregon, to Atlanta, Georgia, to Orlando, Florida. It has been 8-days so far, but I fear even worse after reading the multitude of complaints about this service all over the Internet. The latest tracking information states that the USPS has received Electronic Shipping Information about my package, but has not received my actual package.

And as far as Roger’s haughty comments above (Post #12), basically F*ck you and your arrogant attitude.
Now an opinion from an insider. I’ve worked for FedEx for six years. Five with Ground and this past one with Smartpost. I’m not an apologist by any means, but you have to understand that we are going through what you might call “growing pains.” For starters, Smarpost (formerly Parcel Direct) was only purchased by FedEx in 2004, so the streamlining of operating sytems is not even complete yet. Also bear in mind that Smartpost’s largest competitor, Apex Logistics, filed for Chapter 11 in 2006. This lead to a massive growth in the volume that each Smartpost hub was sorting on a daily basis. The company had to open up four brand new sorting centers right smack in the middle of the 2006 peak shipping season. When I moved from Ground last year, I initially thought that it was the stupidest decision I had ever made. Now that we are integrating our shipments with those of FedEx Ground, there has been a remarkable improvement in our service. All I am saying is, understand what it’s like for someone working in the trenches of a brand new shipping company, especially one that is attached to such an established name.

Smartpost is lousy! Two separate shippings have gotten “stuck” in LA. The first ultimately took 3 1/2 weeks to get to me in Hawaii. The second has been sitting in LA for 10 days now and they tell me it will be another 10 days (making for a 1 month delivery time!). Smartpost customer service was utterly unhelpful, passing it off to some sort of labeling problem . . . they assume. If so, then how did it make it across the US to their LA facility in the first place??? They literally told me that they ship hundreds of thousands of packages and cannot go checking on mine!! Kudos to that customer service rep! I will insist that my vendors use a different shipping method even if it effects the bottom line since customer service (my customers) is the most important thing in my business, even if it isn’t in theirs. As for comment #12, yes, I can read their website too and see that they promise delivery in 2-7 days. I’d be fine with that if they actually lived up to it.

This is for Mr. Roger, #12: You must work for FedEx or have family who does. For the record, the last time I checked, Freedom of Speech is still in existence. People have the right to say what is on their minds, as well as tell others about their experience with any company that has not done their job properly or has crap Customer Service. We all know that things happen and with the amount of packages that are delivered all over the world, some will get misplaced. After reading the comments, I have come to the conclusion that there would not be so many bitter if one person took the time to help them. There is nothing worse than being brushed off or tossed to another person who ends up doing the same thing. The key to all this is simple….TRUTH. No one is looking for perfection with any company. Just tell them what has happened so they can take steps to fix it. Mr. Roger, get a clue and try adding some helpful, positive insight next time instead of criticism. Have a nice day. Good luck to all that have been a victim to being pushed aside, lied to or simply…never helped.

After languishing in and bouncing from sortation centers it arrives at the post office only to be sent out again 500 miles away and come back later the same day. At least that is what the tracking says. I called to post office ready to rip them a new one for letting my package sit around for 5 days. The PO say they never received it and that scampost gives them problems all the time. Even though tracking says it was accepted at the post office, that only means it was listed so in a bulk manifest. It seems their tracking is nothing but an outlet for them to lie and divert blame for their staggering incompetence to the PO. I will never deal with scampost again.

I recently had a package shipped from Performance Bike by SmartPost. It was held up at a sorting center in West Virginia for 3 days. But when it arrived in Kent, Washington it was shipped out on the following day and arrived at my home ahead of time. I just placed another order with Performance and it is being shipped by SmartPost. This time it arrived at the West Virginia sorting center late at night and left early the next morning. I do not have much to go on but it appears that the success of the shipping method depends upon the efficiency of the sorting center. Perhaps the efficiency will also improve with time. So far I am much more favorably impressed with the SmartPost than are most of the people that posted messages here.

I ordered 2 items from Circuit City by the I-net. Both shipped from a location around Los Angeles, Ca. I received the item sent by Fedex Ground in only 5 days (3000 miles). The 2nd unit was shipped SmartPost due to arrive no later than 14 days from ship date. It sat in Atla, Ga for 4 days and 22 hours according to the track info. Now it is in Charlotte, NC and has sat there over 2 days and who knows how much longer. Circuit City says no refund after 14 days. Oh,yeah? I will put the Trouble Shooter on our local TV station on them if I have to. I am thinking of buying one in the next town and refusing to receive the darn thing.

My second order from Performance Bike was shipped from North Carolina on August 12. It went through the West Virginia and Kent, Washington sorting centers and arrived at my door on the morning of August 17, three days ahead of schedule. I consider shipping a package all the way across the country in 5 days to be excellent service. I have limited experience with SmartPost because I have only received 2 packages that were shipped by this method. However, so far I have to give SmartPost a high mark for efficiency.

I ordered a lithium battery from SonyStyle on August 2, 2007. The tracking system did not pick up anything for several days. Then the package made several stops at “sorting stations” on its way from Illinois. Then on August 11, Fed Ex says it delivered the package to my post office in southern California. On contacting the post office, they made several searches but had no record of it. On August 16, I tracked the package again…...this time on its way BACK to Illinois. Why? SonyStyle Customer Service [a misnomer] says the package was damaged and is being returned to the shipper. No notification was ever made to me about the package return status. But wait, there’s more! On contacting SonyStyle Customer Service, I asked to have another battery shipped to me. No, they said, I have to fill out a freight loss form which they would e-mail to me. I must sign this form and send it back to SonyStyle in order to get credit for the purchase. Yes, SonyStyle would send me another battery [free 1-day air shipping] but I’d have to pay for it up front. To date I have not received the freight loss e-mail form. Trying to get through by phone to SonyStyle is difficult, requiring long waits “for the next available operator.” If I want another lithium battery, I’ll have to wait for my SonyStyle credit refund and go out to Walmart to buy it! It appears that Sony is very regimented and is not in the least bit customer friendly.

TERRIBLE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Just terribly disorganized delivery service. FedEx takes your package and delivers your package to a FedEx SmartPost (company bought out by FedEx recently) sorting hub where they will sit there for many days on end until SmartPost has met the full truck load quota of packages for your destination hub. Half the time they send the packages to the wrong sorting hubs and then they end up sending it across the country. IF it does finally get to your city FedEx the pawns the package off onto USPS so that FedEx can’t be held accountable for the condition of your package. I really can’t stress enough how absolutely f-ing terrible this service is. I don’t even screw around with online stores that deliver FedEx Smartpost as their Ground method of delivery. I won’t buy from them. I’d much rather spend a few extra dollars and not have to wait weeks to get my package or have to play phone tag with FedEx and USPS when they inevitably lose it and I need to get my God damn money back. Screw you FedEx!

I ordered a pair of shoes from Foot Locker on 8/29 and it shipped 8/30. It’s 9/10 and the package has been in the hands of the USPS in my own town for 4 days, not moving at all. Estimated delivery date was 9/7. Much too optimistic.

Hi, I’ve worked for a variety of shipping companies (aka UPS and FedEx)...You guys should know that there are often many mis-scans with the parcels…aka they will appear to have left Atlanta when it was last scanned in Orlando. Also, FedEx Smartpost is a 7-9 business day delivery service. Weekends, holidays, etc do not count. If a company is telling you it will be there sooner than that, there are simply not telling you the truth. Packages will often stay in a sortation center for a few days; that is very typical. It’s a low-cost shipping alternative, therefore it is much slower. You’re package is not being stolen, it’s not just sitting around, FedEx SmartPost handles the most domestic packages. Since they aren’t charging their consumers much to ship, there is going to be a lag time. If they’re charging you more than about $5 for shipping, they’re taking that extra money to line their pockets. Ultimately, the liability for refunding to you belongs to the company you placed your order with. The shipping companies refund the companies you bought something from, and they in turn refund you. The reason the shipping company (aka UPS or FedEx) cannot give you personally any refund is because they aren’t even allowed to see your customer information. The only information they have is a tracking number. They can’t look up your name, your address, anything. It’s simple confidentiality laws. Also, I’d like to say that Sony is the worst company ever and openly lies to their customers. I’m never ordering again from them, especially since I know that they are lying. The simple truth is, FedEx SmartPost is slow. It is cheap. You get what you pay for, and if you have complaints, the company you ordered from is the only one that can help you. If the company is claiming to not have information about your package, the liability lies with their shipping department, not FedEx SmartPost. Sorry, folks. The companies that choose to ship this way accept any liability for shipping errors, mistakes, and damages. The reason you can’t get help from FedEx Smartpost, particularly, is because they are exclusively a corporate shipper. If you’re not a representative from Circuit City, Coldwater Creek, etc, etc, they can’t help you. I hope this helps clear up anybody’s questions…

After reading these comments I’m really worried, and also wondering what CC is thinking with DumbAssPost. I ordered a $400 Canon digital camera on 11/13 and they shipped it DumbAssPost. It left the sortation center in Dallas on 11/15 and is now in New Berlin, WI! Logistics my ass! I’m almost exactly half way between Dallas and New Berlin, WI.
I couldnt agree more with you guys. I am a contractor for fedex smartpost. There warehouse is a complete train wreck boxes are always misdelivered, and nobody seems to care. I love fedex but i hate smart post. Truth be told, The usps has a deal with fedex to have all of the first class, and priority mail shipped on fedex planes, and in turn the usps will give business to them a.k.a. smartpost. Because the postal service cannot afford to operate aircraft anymore. But unfortunately Thats all there is. Any catalog you order from either ships fedex, usps, dhl, or ups. What it comes down to is if you want it on time you have to pay out the ass. Smartpost also crams freight into my truck to the point that boxes are crushed and destroyed. I hate them for this shit.

I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about SmartPost, but I can’t say I’ve every had a problem with them. Woot uses them a lot, in addition to other vendors I have purchased from, and they’ve never lost a package, and while they do seem to take longer to deliver than other shipping methods, it’s not more than a couple days difference. I guess I would feel differently if I ran into the kind of lack of accountability I’m hearing about.

I too am dying waiting for something to come from smartpost. I ordered a laptop from circuit city and it came a week ago today through FedEx Ground. There was a deal along with it to get a wireless router, laptop case, and flash drive for cheap. That stuff was supposed to come today, 1 week after the laptop. I live in Pennsylvania and the package was in Pottstown so I finally figured any day now! But now the update says it’s in Kent, Washington!! How is that POSSIBLE!? It can’t possibly be any closer to coming now. And with all the stories on here of packages being lost and stolen, I’m getting worried. It originally left from Oklahoma, then it went to Texas, then West Virginia, then Pennnsylvania, and like I said now it’s in Washington, further away than it was originally shipped from!! This is totally ludicrous. If I ever think something will be shipped smartpost again I will cancel the order immediately. And I wasn’t trying to get cheap shipping either, I wanted both packages at the same time and would have paid if I’d been given a choice; I wasn’t because it had to be ordered over the phone. What good is a laptop for over a week without internet!? smartpost, what is wrong with you?! It’s been 10 days now, tomorrow will be 11 if it still doesn’t come. It better get its ass to my doorstep.

Smartpost is anything but smart and I think it is outrageous, that companies do not openly tell you beforehand, that they will ship smartpost. Supposedly it is a cheaper method, but I have yet to find a dealer who passes the savings on to the customer. If given the choice, I would never buy from a store that uses smartpost as the only option. My last shipment was going back and forth between our town and the neighboring town on a daily basis for a whole week. Neither fedex nor USPS feels responible.
I am an employee at FedEx Smartpost and I am not ashamed to say how HORRIBLE this place is. The management have no personnel standards which in regard, require the worker to work more for less and of course do worse at their job. Of course FedEx seems like a wonderful place to work, its a notorious company that takes advantage of the underdog who serve them. It all comes down to money. I have asked for many favors as simply as direct deposit, many say they will help, but nothing happens, having such a simple service at hand is trechourous, for over a month this has on been going on but I hear the same thing every time, “Next week”. I need a job and the money otherwise I would never be at this place, I recommend absolutley NO ONE to apply here because everyone’s perspective is the same, after the first week they want to quit, but they can’t cause it’s an easy job to get. It’s pretty obvious why it is so easy to get. The horrible service starts with the management and with poor management means poor workers and it will never end. I hate FedEx smartpost!

This is the worst shipping service I’ve ever encountered, and I’m shipping coordinator for my company. My contacts at FedEx know nothing of SuckPost. It was only when I found this page that I found out they will hand my package off to the post office. Worst. Service. Ever. I hope they do away with this shit program.
Here is one more instance of crappy service by FedEx Smartpost. I ordered something on buy.com on 12/7 they shipped it on 12/9 and I havent received it till date(12/21). Here is a snippet of response from buy.com:

“Please allow 7-9 business days and it may take up to 12 business days for the item to be delivered from the date it as shipped. If you still haven’t received the order, please send us another e-mail and we will take the necessary steps to get the item delivered.”

When I check the tracking info it shows:

Calling buy.com I just get a reply that its in transit wait for some more time. I ordered 10 shipments from various vendors much after this and they all have arrived well before their estimated delivery date.

I am having problems with this “Smart”Post too. I order a package from a personalization company on December 2nd. The company got behind and then shipped out the package on the 12th and would not upgrade my shipping from their mistake. So it left on the 12th from Illinois, went to Wisconsin, then West Virginia, then Georgia. The estimated delivery date was the 20th. On the 17th, my local post office received the shipping information from FedEx electronically, and then FedEx says it entered the USPS in my local town on the same day. The post office, however, never receieved it. When I went to the post office, they looked up the tracking number and found that it was scanned in another town, possibly sent back to Nashville, TN for resorting…but in short, nobody has any clue where my package is. It’s a personalized Christmas gift for my mother worth $200, and I am leaving today with no present. Calling SmartPost too has resulted in nothing…I’ve emailed them and called them and left my number and a message, both with no replies. I am so upset with this company…and with the company I ordered my item from being as big of a pain as SmartPost, I’ll doubt if I ever receive either the package or my money back.

somehow is it acceptable to take OVER A MONTH? 8 effing days in a texas “sortation center”. sounds to me like someone lost it and then randomly stumbled across it whilst throwing out their 4th starbucks for the day and decided it should probably be put back into circulation.
A few comments—-

Quoted from the shirt.woot.com site:
Slow shipping is on us, via FedEx SmartPost. Thatâ??s our $0 shipping option. If youâ??re cheap and patient, just let SmartPost do its thing, and your shirt should be in your hand in 5-100 business days.

Secondly, in reference to eliot… FedEx DumbPost is not totally to blame…—-Woot did not give the shirt to FedEx until the 19th. That is when it was picked up.—-There was also a huge holiday in there, which usually makes things slow to a screeching halt…Christmas.—-When you bought it, you were told (reference above) that you need to be patient.

And everybody that has lost items, go back and make sure you get a claim filed in some way. File a chargeback if need be on your credit card. You have a right to not have your package stolen.

I will not order from Lady Footlocker again. Been waiting for soccer cleats since 12/27 and the order spent 7 calendar days in the sortation center – one that is 90 miles from me. So frustrating. I could have just driven up there and picked up the cleats from them, if they allowed that. And LFL charges for Standard shipping (and some of your posts list FREE shipping from various companies) I should have forked over the cash and paid for the 3-5 calendar days or shipping is free guaranteed. They did not list who they actually use for shipping. Had I known and found this site beforehand, I most likely would not have ordered cleats from them.
Plus the girl I spoke to didn’t know whether I needed to be there to sign for the package. Useless outsourced twits. Ugh.

I have my comments to add about fedex smart post. I placed an order before Christmas with a company. The package was shipped on december 24th, I called the company on January 2nd to get the tracking number. It was shipping fedex smart post, this is my first and last experience with them. On 1/2 it got to one state, on 1/4 it was in another state set to be sent to the post office on 1/7. I called Fedex on 1/9 and was told the post office should have it but there was no record of it online. Called the post office several times and the package was not there. Called fedex back and they said it was still in the sorting center. Went online 1/10 to see if there were any updates and it still showed the package in the sorting center. I called fedex again and they said they did not know where the package was that I should call where I ordered the item and see what they could do to get me another sent out. I called and was told to call fedex back and tell them the package was in their posession, they are responsible for it and to find it. So I call fedex and told them, fedex said the package was damaged and to call the company back and tell them to resend the item. I called and was told since it was damaged they would send out another one. Guess what, the package was just delivered, it had been opened but everything seems to be there. By the way according to fedex the package is still in the sorting center and has not been delivered!

Can’t say anything that others already haven’t…delivery times are just pitiful. My first package that came SmartPost took 20 days from California. First it spent a week sitting in LA before shipping to the East Coast, then 10 days sitting in Edison, NJ and then it finally made it my local post office which then took an additional two days. Now another eTailer I bought from chose this ridiculous service. The package made if from Louisville, KY to Edison, NJ in 1 day and now package #2 is just sitting there languishing in Edison. I actually spoke to an in-law this weekend who works for FedEx and I told him the SmartPost service is abysmal and he agreed. GREAT! All I can say is that I will call the eTailer before ordering to assure they DON’T use this service. If they do then I’ll opt for some place else.

I thought I was the only one that has suffered from StupidPost and after reading this, I am amazed to see that others had it worse. At least I EVENTUALLY got my package, only that it was too late. I ordered a whole bunch of stuff from Amazon, some from its affiliated sellers in mid Nov 07. Guess what, everything else but the StupidPost one arrived within a week. The StupidPost packaged still didn’t arrive after two whole weeks, and by the time I got it it was already too late since it was a present and I needed to leave end of Nov intending to bring it with me on the trip. I have never liked FedEx (UPS is the best; even USPS is way better) – everything from it is an overpriced piece of crap, and the the StupidPost is THE crappiest service ever, from ANYONE Don’t companies know that using StupidPost, even though it might save them a few bucks NOW, is really hurting their business in the long run.
After seeing how long the ESTIMATED delivery date was (still en route) on the tracking site, I Googled “Fedex smart post sucks” on a frustrated whim; wow, what a lot of dissatisfied customers. The retailers who use it are going to create a lot customers who never buy again. RepairClinic.com charged me $5.99 to ship a 1-ounce piece of plastic, which might have cost a buck for regular mail, which would have gotten it here in less than a week, instead of SmartPost’s 9-day estimate (which may be longer, from what I’ve seen above). A seller of repair parts should be aware that customers will be totally unhappy with a shipping method that takes LONGER than regular mail. I will be very careful in the future.

the method behind the madness: There are few trucks designated solely to delivering Fedex packages to the usps, and those trucks are full with premium FedEx parcels. If the trucks at any given sortation center are full, Fedex will simply send your “SmartPost” package internally, and virtually ANYWHERE they can, in an attempt to keep their local percentages of “fluid processing” up. In fact, some sortation centers have next to ZERO trucks designated for USPS conversions, ergo people in some regions (seemingly ALL of them) may experience extreme delays, or never see their goods at all.

Its infuriating that FedEx touts it as a timely way to ship packages to customers, when the reality is that its a terrible service that isnâ??t getting packages delivered within 2-7 days, as declared in the service description. After a week, my package finally arrived a sortation center about 20 miles away from my house, where it been sitting for several days now, and has yet to be accepted by USPS. This service is piece of crap, and is certainly deceptive to customers, with a service description that is completely misleading, as it should state a transit time of something like 10-20 business days or so like it actually is.
Maybe Fedex to USPS to delivery address is supposed to take the same time as Fedex ground only, but every time a shipper has used it for my packages (several dozen so far), it takes at least 3-5 days longer than any other ground shipping. “”Ok, I have read enough bashing about FedEx SmartPost. For those of you that donâ??t have a clue about logistics; as I can tell by your comments you donâ??t, a sortation center is basically the same as the post office calls a Bulk Mail Center. They receive the parcels; or mail for those of lesser minds, and sort it to the closest zip code allowing direct delivery of items from a shipper. Which FedEx SmartPost has got down to most of your local post offices.

As for delivery times for SmartPost verses FedEx Groundâ?¦ Both take the exact time to deliver to your home. 2-7 days, and since FedEx SmartPost is using the Postal Service for final delivery, I would say that is damn good.
Now for the pricing issue I have read about. Let me just say that most of the places you would order from not only charge you the amount for shipping, but they also charge you to package the item and handle it until it is picked upâ?¦
To end this rambling, let me just say before you go blasting a company, know your facts.””

I did receive the package after 5 days. What a surprise and relief. Good luck everyone, I still wouldn’t recommend this service and will never use it again based on what I have read here and the limited access to information about the package being shipped.

Like y’all, I found this site while attempting to track a SmartPost shipment. I ordered some quilting stuff from ConnectingThreads.com, which shipped via SmartPost on 4/25. It’s 5/9, and the damned thing still isn’t here. Other things I ordered around the same time were shipped by regular mail from further away and got here forever ago (real time: last Saturday, and earlier last week)! Good thing I wasn’t in the midst of a quilting emergency, LOL!

SmartPost usually takes ages in my experience, but I fear this one may be lost. According to the tracking info, my local P.O. was notified to expect the package on April 29, and nothing’s happened since then.

I am a longtime customer (both business and personal) of regular Fedex and have never had an issue with their service. I have found it to be exemplary. I really have a hard time understanding why SmartPost is so bad.

The company I work for receives the SmartPost parcels from FedEx and delivers it to the DDU’s. The loads come in generally to us the night before delivery. I know FedEx makes alot of mis-ships. 29 stops on our route and boxes are bound to get mis-sorted once in awhile. At the end of the day . . . there is usually 20 to 30 boxes that were sent to be on our route that actually were destined to every other part of the country. 30 boxes out of 2000? 1.5% of them are mis-sorted. I think thats damned good. I mean would you buy from an eBay seller with 98.5% positive? Thats almost more effective than most birth control. The speed on the other hand . . . you get what you pay for.

If I knew then what I know know. This FedEx Smart post should suffer legal consequences for their incompetence. I’m waiting 12 days now for a packgage from UT to MA. It’s expected to arrive June 6, 2008 which will be 16 days in transit. The USPS priority mail takes 2 days and charges $4.60. I paid $6.95 and honestly don’t think I’ll ever see the pakage.
I ordered shoes off Amazon through Shoemall on the 22nd of May. Looking back on it, I should have ordered from a different vendor that used UPS, not FedEx. Either way, I ordered the shoes, they were picked up the next day and sent to the ‘sortation center’ in MN, where they stayed for 5 days. They slowly made their way to WV, where they were for 2 days, then in PA for near 4 days. Surprisingly enough the shoes actually made it to my house before the estimated delivery date by 1 day. After watching the progress of my shoes across the country, I expected the shoes to come no less than 3 days after the expected date, especially after reading all these posts. I cannot say that FedEx suck/dumb/scam post screwed me over as bad as many of the other posters here, but I can say that I will avoid using this service by any means. And still, the service took an incredibly long time, where as UPS would have taken a week or less I would guess. My best wishes to all those who got screwed by FedEx and lost or are still waiting for their packages.

This is clearly an inefficient service, one that isn’t worth the “cheap shipping” savings. I’ve asked the website www.consumerist.com to look into it, so perhaps they’ll dig up some more information.

FedEx isn’t the only one who has this service- UPS has the same thing called Mail Innovations. The service is ECONOMY, so YES it is SLOW. The company you order from creates those shipping costs that they charge you, not FedEx SmartPost. SmartPost only gets about $2 to ship your package- that’s why it takes so long. Take your complaints to the companies you order from. For future reference, there are only 20 sortation centers around the country, so it won’t always go to your particular state. If you want it faster, you’ll have to pay more money. Go complain to the company if you’re so mad about the way they’re shipping it.

I recently placed an order with the on-line catalog of a company that uses FedEx Smartpost. When I went on-line to track status, I came across this weblog. After reading these comments, and having had no prior experience with FedEx Smartpost, I was seriously concerned about receiving my package soon or even at all. But the concern was for nothing. The package left the company on June 23, and the mailman delivered it to my door the morning of June 30…. 5 business days later (I read somewhere their delivery time is 7-9 days). There were 2 sortation centers involved—at one the turnaround was a day and a half, and at the other the turnaround was 2 hours (in the middle of the night no less). So I agree with weblogger #40 (Jim) who said “So far I am much more favorably impressed with the SmartPost than are most of the people that posted messages here.”

I absolutely agree. FedEx SmartPost is suck! But more online stores love to use it just to save couple bucks. I ordered two cosmetic sets (two seperate orders) from lancome.com on June 14. I really need to get these two sets (as gifts) back to my home country on June 29. So I think I suppose to get these on time, right? But guess what! Two packages was sent out at the same time on June 15, 08. First package arrived on June 27, 08 (yes almost 2 weeks). and the second one came on June 30, 08—one day after I left… well well well

I totally agree with you. I had two things shipped by Buy.com. They used this Stupidpost. Both of them took almost a month to get in my hands. And I couldn’t find where they were then they were on the road. It’s terrible service. Just for that, I am not going to buy anything from Buy.com because they use Smartpost for shipping. Not like Amazon, the shipping over $25 is free, and they use mostly UPS, and it’s fast.

I just ordered two computers from Circuitcity couple days ago, and it notified me my items were shipped by Fedex Smartpost. What a bad newsï¼?Another one months to wait?
For those of you complaining about woot, The problem lies with them. I work with a fedex that receives packages from woot to be shipped and the packages coming from DLTX almost always have zip code errors which means these packages came to another sortation center because the zip that was scanned to the package was the incorrect zip. This sends the package to the area around the zip that was entered. Also alot of times fedex can’t give you information on your package because theres no information there. For example if your package label was damaged, wrinkled or in some way not able to be scanned it must be overlabeled with a new label. Before now there was no way to track your package after we overlabeled it. We now have a labeler that can just print that same label. If you are expecting your packages in 2-3 days the company you ordered from lied to you about the shipping time.

I will share my tracking information with you. I ordered something and received a delivery notification on 09/15/2008. As you can see the SmartPost starts on 09/17/2008. Not sure where it was for the other two days. I don’t know if this is supposed to be a cheaper solution but I paid $10.99 to ship two things from Limited Too. I went to the post office today (09/29/2008) and the package is still not there. It only states that my post office has been “notified” that it is coming. What sense does that make?
It seems that some of the posts here are confusing Fedex Smartpost with Fedex Ground. Fedex Ground service is 2-3 day and you pay more for it. Fedex Smartpost is a deeply discounted option for high volume shippers.Keep a few things in mind to why packages could be delayed. First the shipper has a to fill a full trailer before it is sent to a smartpost facility. A trailer could sit at the customer for days. The packages are then sorted at smartpost and ship to another facility and/or eventually to the USPS. After the USPS receives the package it takes a few days for them to get it to your house. Also consider that Smartpost cannot make that delivery to the USPS on a federal holiday but they can move packages within their system. The average time for a package from the first smartpost location to the usps is 3 business days. That doesn’t mean it gets to your house in 3 days. It seems that many shippers are not passing the discount on to their customers. Therefore people assume they are paying for Fedex Ground Shipping and they receive SmartPost shipping.

This is a terrible “service” It involves waiting for a full load going to X. If your package is one of the first, prepare for a long wait. If it’s one of the last, it may arrive in reasonable time.

This cheapens the FEDEX name. FEDEX had been a synonym for fast efficient service.
It seems Fedex Smartpost hasn’t gotten any better of the years! I ordered a package from DSW and they held it for 3 days then it reaches Kent, WA on December 18, 2008, according to tracking didn’t leave their facility until December 26, 2008-keep in mind the estimated in home arrival was December 23, 2008. I was told that I should now receive it by December 30, 2008, it is now January 2, 2009 and it is not here! So much for ordering in time for Christmas. I tried calling Fedex Smartpost on two occassions, they are not taking calls. DSW doesn’t care, as all they do is refer me to the tracking information. My local post office is frustrated as well, because they haven’t seen a Fedex Smartpost delivery in two weeks. Bottom line is I wish I would of had a choice on how this was shipped-it definetely would not be going Fedex.

The PS3 was shipped by FedEx Smart Post. It shipped like within like 2 days, couple days later it moved through a couple of states, which I thought was normal. But now it’s stuck at a frigging Sortation Center in Carolina, Puerto Rico for 6 days now. I mean come on now, what the hell am I supposed to with a game for a system that I don’t even have yet. If I had known that this would have happened I seriously would have considered spending en extra $150 to get it locally. I don’t know what to think right about now, could it be that my package has been stolen yet again, or is it just delayed or what have it. Hopefully it gets here in one piece within the next couple of days, but if it means I have to spend a little bit extra to get it locally or from a RELIABLE company, then I guess that’s what has to be done.

I ordered a package on Dec 15th for christmas. It was shipping through fedex smartpost, which I didn’t know at the time. It was returned to the shipper stating I had moved. I called, reordered it and had a second package shipped. This package has now been returned stating I moved. Now this is USPS who delivers the package, the same postal people who left me mail each day with my name on it. So if I moved from this place I lived for 9 years, why is my mail still coming to me each day but they can’t deliver a package? When you call they can’t locate the package. I only found out it was returned to sender because the shipping company had received it back. They are now trying to ship it a third time and to a different address. I hope they stop using smart post and I have sent a complaint to them to do so. Monkeys could deliver a package better than the people working for Smartpost. And don’t bother trying to call them, you get told them have to many phone calls and can’t answer the phone. Then you get disconnected. Maybe if they didn’t loose everybodys package they wouldn’t get so many phone calls. And a rep for Fedex themselves said even they can’t reach a human being that works for smartpost to get any answers. Even they hate that service.

This is still a problem. I ordered a package (replacement software from MS) and it shipped from Ohio. It has taken 5 days to get the item from their Grove City “Sortation Center” to the FedEx location in my State. The delivery date has now changed 3 times since shipping. It was “supposed” to arrive today originally but now says 1/15. This service is garbage, why can’t FedEx deliver the package themselves? If they had just put it on their own truck this morning at the sort center, it would arrive today but instead they added the extra and completely unnecessary step of giving it to the Post Office to deliver. This is the worst business idea I’ve ever seen. I see no value added in the SmartPost service vs. regular shipping services. Next time I’ll insist on UPS ground; I received a package shipped 1/4 of the way across the country THE NEXT DAY using them.

FedEx SmartPost costs considerably less than the service levels with which many of these comments compare it (e.g., UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, USPS Priority Mail, etc). The postal service categorizes these FSP shipments as economy (as opposed to Priority or Express). So, they get the lowest grade of service once the postal service takes over the delivery process. If you choose something because it’s cheap(er)—such as a shipping method like this—you may end up getting what you paid for. If your vendor didn’t give you faster (more expensive) shipping options from which to choose or didn’t accurately disclose estimated FSP delivery times, then shame on your vendor. The reality is that a shipping method categorized as “economy” is being used and, as a result, you’re getting exactly what you (or your vendor) saved money by using. FSP does have a place, but it’s for inexpensive, non-time sensitive deliveries. It may sound like I’m defending the service, but I am really not. Honestly, I’ve never used it but I am very familiar with how it works. I would never use FSP for anything that I ordered online that I REALLY wanted. Maybe I would use it for items valued under $10 for which I could wait at least 2 weeks to receive… or MAYBE if that vendor would otherwise “gouge” me with more expensive (faster) delivery options.

I read the comments about Smartpost (or Dumbpost) consolidated shipping and now know why Circuit City went under. Coldwater Creek shipped a package which arrived at the Grove City, Oh center on March 26 @ 1:45 Am and departed @ 8 Am for north central Florida. Today is April 4 and the package has yet to appear. I agree with the good folks who will no longer buy from any outfit using this (service?).
I predict that the idiot who dreamed up this idea will get a huge bonus and severance package just prior to his company going under. Don’t feel bad because they company will qualify for bailout funds and have a huge party in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

They run the hell out of the people and run the converyors fast and the people who unload the trucks are made to unload the trucks at warp speed onto the conveyors…while the people on the floors who stack the packages on the pallets have are expected to look at letter and number codes with super fast eyes…and are still expected to not get mis-sorts….and we were expected to be able to stack packagesd of various weights and sizes without them falling and shirink wrap them to along with the conveyors moving relentlessly…instead of modifying their processes, they keep firing temporary personnell and ruining their job referances and their standing with the personnel agencies. The turnover rate in the company is high..they treat the people like me who worked for the temporaty personell agencies like crap. I worked unloading trucks which were hot inside in the summer and cold in the winter….the trailers have leak and water gets into them…so in the winter, the packaged on in contact with the floors of the trailors are froze to the floor and get wet and damaged…in the summer, these packages get wet. I sweated in the trailers and to top things off…i was harassed by a supervisor because of a vendetta against me and i had this supervisor question my hygiene while practically laughing in my face…and when i politely told him that his games were a violation of my rights…he turned around and called my personnell service..and i guess he must have been really talking in pictures to them…because the woman who called me from the temporary service never even met me and she belittled me and made real nasty remarks about soap and water…this was done to me at the whim of a Fed Ex Supersisor named Mark at the leetsdale plant and it was done without the knowlege of the head bosses there….my name was slandered and my reputation with the personnel service was ruined by the jerk because thanks to Mark calling the personnel service and slandering my name behind my back, the personnel service has an ugly picture of me as a guy who never takes a bath and reaks (which is far from the truth because i have friends and relatives who know me). To top it all off, an incident took place that led to my termination was concerning unauthorized tool (ridged steak knives brought in by other employees to cut cardboard instead of the utility knives that people are supposed to get from the office) i had another worker sneakily threaten me with one of these knives…i refused to use these knives because they were against policy to be brought in the place, but there is no security guy at the doors when its not peak season…anyway…i felt threatened and got spooked, so i panicked and lost the job for punching the guy….and believe me, it aint hard for anyone to descretely threaten some one else with a sharp object while people are not looking…maybe i did hit the guy .. but how do i know i wouldnt have got stabbed in the back by sone guy with issues outside the workplace and wanting to take his rage out on someone…and i suppose that was my fault because i should have ran from him and told a supervisor and had him removed from there….but there you have it.

You may do ok at Fed Ex Smart post for a while but that wont last and you be one of the many who will get their reputations damaged and it dont take much to give them an excuse. (sarcastic sigh) Aint it a shame that we have such a free country where employers like Fed Ex Smart Post have the right to use the internet as a tool to blackmark people and violate peoples constitutional rights while using the wonders of modern technology to harm a persons ability to aquire any other job. (sarcastic sigh)Aint it a shame that people like me and a handful of friends who used to work in this facility have the equal right to speak out like i am doing now. (Sarcastic sigh) However it seems these people who sit behind desks at places like this still abuse their power and get away with it but in the long run, the inevitable failure of this company will be their own doing due to their massive turnover rate and leaky trucks, wet packages and an overall inadaquate operation. Its raining right now and i guarantee you that their trailors trucks will be leaking and they will have more wet packages.

To reply to the poster of comments 175 and 178: I worked at FedEx SmartPost for a year and a half, after previously working about a year and a half at FedEx Ground. The work involved at Ground was at least 10x harder than the work involved at SmartPost. I am not saying SmartPost was easy, but for a lazy individual simply looking for a paycheck (like yourself), this isn’t the place. From what I have seen in the shipping industry, there isn’t really an easy job to be had anywhere. You might say your supervisor had it easy, but I know for a fact that it isn’t. I wasn’t a supervisor, but did get promoted to team lead after about 2 weeks on the job. I think the main reason I received a promotion was because I was used to getting my balls busted at Ground for so long. Coming to a place like SmartPost where it was a little slower paced and smaller packages made me a standout employee that could get the job done in half the time as most of the other workers, especially workers from the temp agency that we used to get employees. These were some of the laziest individuals I have ever seen. A little hard work can go a long way, and obviously you didn’t do much work if your supervisor ‘singled you out’ and didn’t give you any praise…

Which brings me to my next point, I will not bash the service (because I have not shipped through it) or the organization (becuase I have respect for it), but I will say that the area where they can really improve is the workforce. They need to get people in there who care about what they are doing and not just a bunch of temps who are simply showing up.
For all of you who are bashing and cursing the service, try and work at a shipping facility for a month during Christmas peak and then come back to the forums and share your experience.
In conclusion, I don’t think SmartPost is the worst idea ever, it just needs a pretty big overhaul in order to gain its reputation back and some business that might have been lost in the recent years.

I’ve read most of the comments (and there are so many!) and I understand that ymmv depending on which reps you talk to and which sortation centers are used, etc. The more times a package changes hands, the higher your chances of things going wrong, and the harder it is to find accountability. I order with Amazon fairly regularly and I’ve always loved their Super Saver shipping option when I haven’t been in too much of a hurry. However, I do expect the package to arrive within the estimated time, and I do expect to be able to track the package to a reasonable degree, even if that means seeing it re-routed across the country and back or falling off the truck at one center or another. Whatever the case, I just either want my refund or a new delivery, pronto.

[rant]
My latest order supposedly was delivered a few days ago at the very last day of the estimated time frame, yet I found nothing in our mail room, despite other packages being present. I had to wonder if someone in my building just randomly snatched mine (there were other Amazon-stamped boxes there, nothing special about mine), or if there was a snafu in delivery. I have had at least one other delivery through SmartPost and didn’t previously have any issue, but it seems that when there is an issue, it’s very difficult to clear up. I called Amazon and for the first time ever I was disappointed in their customer service: the rep said that the USPS doesn’t provide them with detailed tracking info, and despite Amazon’s tracking site saying my package has been “delivered,” it could actually mean it has only been accepted by the local post office, and that I should wait another week for USPS to get it to me (despite the local P.O. being 3 blocks away—I’d gladly walk over there and pick it up if it’s that much of a hassle for my local carrier) before calling for redelivery. Call me crazy, but when I see “delivered” in the tracking notes, I expect that the package has made it to my building—not that I’m supposed to wait another week to start the redelivery process (and then have to wait through that shipping time frame, as well). I argue the point and the rep apologizes and advises me to check the FedEx site for their tracking info and the USPS for theirs, as well. To me, that’s like Amazon admitting that their tracking system is not actually useful—not very impressive of them. I check the other sites: delivered and delivered, they both say. I call USPS myself on the next business day and they insist that the package was indeed delivered to the building (whether or not they’re telling the truth, at this point I don’t care—I simply don’t have my stuff), so I call Amazon immediately, they apologize (and inform me that on regular business days the Amazon rep should have called USPS themself to check for me), and then they set up a 2-day redelivery using UPS instead. :p UPS to the rescue!
[/rant]

Essentially, Amazon’s Super Saver shipping option no longer seems like a neat deal when SmartPost is one of the variable options. If I want to save some money with free shipping, I now have to gamble with my purchase itself and hope it doesn’t go through SmartPost. I’m not willing to do that. And I’m not happy about paying FedEx or USPS for their other shipping options. Faster shipping is one thing, but you shouldn’t have to pay extra just to make sure your purchase actually reaches you. For large purchases I’ll gladly pay the shipping (to UPS!), but Amazon may have lost most of their business with me—for my common smaller purchases I’ll be looking for deals elsewhere.

The package leaves there and travels RIGHT THROUGH MY TOWN, to New Berlin, Wisconsin which is 130 miles north of me Now, eight days after it left the shipper, it is on it’s way (alledgedly) to me after a lovely tour of the midwest. They should rename it FedEx Dumba$$ post! As for Roger in post #12, you sir, are a MORON! I’ve been in the trucking industry for 15 years and I know plenty about logistics. I know if I treated any of my clients the way FedEx treats theirs, I would have been out of a job a long time ago! By the way, the other FedEx divisions aren’t much better. Anytime I’ve had something delivered by them, home delivery, ground, any of them, They can never find my house. The USPS, UPS, even DHL never had a problem delivering to me. I have resorted to putting “DO NOT SHIP VIA FEDEX” in the delivery comments on everything I order. This time it slipped by but never again. I will most definitely pay extra for shipping just to avoid FedEx!

I bought something which unfortunately was shipped via this option. But surprisingly, it shipped quickly…. or so I thought. So I went to my building’s mailroom to pick it up, but it was not there. Where is it? No one knows. And the mailroom only received 5 packages that day, mine was not there. Days later, it still has not arrived. So now, I have to make sure that I am not charged for an expensive order that I didn’t receive. Ugh. Good job Smart Post!

Nevermind the fact it’s called smartpost and the service redundantly ships the package back and forth between two cities.

I have two packages from different venders both coming Smartpost. Both of them keep going leaving Kansas City and then a couple of day coming back into Kansas City. I called Fedex and they say it is the Post office. The post Office says they know nothing about it. Fedex Smartpost is DUMB. It takes longer than you could possibly imagine, and it is nearly impossible
via UPS or USPS Priority Mail. Sorry Fedex, but the

Wow…glad to see that at least I’m not alone here!

I’m currently waiting for a simple exchange from a company right now and have watched my FedEx SmartPost delivery date change twice. I’m in the midwest and I’ve watched my package go from Ohio to Pottstown, PA (where it spent Dec. 9th – Dec. 15th and was listed as arriving and departing four times throughout the course of those days), and now it’s in West Virginia? It’s been nine days total, and they are getting pretty close to making a nice little circle within a tri-state area, but certainly not any closer to actually getting to me.

Let’s quit letting them get away with this kind of crap, and at least make them realize how much their piss poor service is irritating their dwindling customer base. Also, why not contact the company that decided to ship you something using SmartPost and give them a heads-up that they might not want to associate their business with such a shoddy shipping company.

Good luck, fellow consumers!

Wow. What a complete failure. I have a package sitting 45 miles away for 3 days. Called Fedex to expedite it but apparently when its sent smartpost there is absolutely nothing they can do.

Why on earth would a package leave a fedex facility and then come back to the same facility? It defies all business logic.

Also, if it’s sitting at their facility and they see its not getting delivered, why can’t fedex pull it and just deliver it for me? Instead I get the run around saying that USPS “probably” has it. But as you can see the history has it in the FexEx Facility for the past 24 hours. Which according to the rep is not always updated.

Way to go, Fedex, you officially suck.
