There is a new version of Pictorialis out which fixes a couple of issues that were brought up with the Beta and you can download it from http://weblogtoolscollection.com/b2-img/pictorialis.zip
Fixes for this version include:
– Built in EXIF support which does not need pre-compiled EXIF in PHP
– There is a selection mechanism for versions of GD which makes sure you always get the best possible thumbnails and pictures conversion.
– This also has some file upload fixes which makes sure that the uploaded files do not get erased before the script gets a chance to grab the files.
– The installation process has also been better defined with some fixes for the installation troubles reported from the previous version.
As in the pervious version, this new version has the following features:
- XHTML compliant code
- Simple once click addition of photos, auto thumbnail and resizing
- Extraction of EXIF information from original photo and saved as meta
- Easy installation, as easy as installing WordPress
- Simple, clean design and look
- Simple navigation
My example PhotoBlog with WordPress can be found at Pictorialis
From your example site, this is just what i´m looking for!
Thanks!
Hi Mark, thanks for making this! I have a question I hope you have time to answer…I can’t seem to get my photo (post) to be centered…is there something i need to do in the css or index file? Thanks!
You need to monkey with the CSS if it does not work right out of the box. The pictures in the post are controlled by the dl.sized class which is wrapped around the dl.sized.dd class. If you still cannot get it to work, please email me and I will try to help you out.
Thanks Mark, I have been messing around with it for the last two hours, and I really don’t want to waste your time so I will post my question on the WP support forums..if you do get a chance, take a look…Gracias’
Hi Mark, Iv’e been working with this all day and overcomed a lot of things (hard for a beginner like me, especially figuring out that the thumbnail wont show unless the code is in the Excerpt field) And I think i just have a couple more questions. I can’t get “previous/next” to show up (next to Archives)…and in the archives when you click on the month, it gets real screwy…..any suggestions? Thanks for your time!
Good job Ryan! Under reading in your blog options you need to set the number of posts to be displayed as 1 and the kind of posts as posts-paged. That will take care of the archives issue and the previous next issue.
“the thumbnail wont show unless the code is in the Excerpt field”
How, where, why? Sorry, but I’m a complete newbie when it comes to doing these things myself. How do I do this? Thanks for all help
Sorry to bother…but when I try to create a post with a picture, using the picture upload form I get the following errors:
“Warning: move_uploaded_file(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/public_html/pictorialis/wp-admin/upload/050704telegraphpole.jpg) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/merialc:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/merialc/public_html/pictorialis/wp-admin/post.php on line 191
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/merialc/public_html/pictorialis/wp-admin/post.php:191) in /home/merialc/public_html/pictorialis/wp-admin/post.php on line 345″
Any ideas why or how to solve? Thanks!
Your PHP install on your webhost has a bug. If you still want to use this version of pictorialis you will need to contact your webhost to have them upgrade their version of PHP. This was fixed way back in April 2003 and so any version of PHP 4x after that would work.
Thanks! I’ll get in touch with them.
My webhost tells me: “We’re running PHP 4.3.5 which was released this March so I’m pretty sure whatever problem you’re having is unrelated to a bug from over a year ago.”
Any other ideas? Sorry for all the trouble.
