Browser War Survey

In keeping with an IE centric co-worker, I would like to request my readers to post their browser usage percentages as comments to this post. All I am looking to understand is the overall percentage of IE users versus Mozilla based browsers. There are some caveats.

  1. Most statistics fromblog sites are somewhat jaded. I say this with a smiling face because bloggers tend to be more tech savy in most cases and are more prone to using real browsers. For example: this blog has 40% of its hits from Mozilla based browsers.

  2. Staistics from sites which attract a lot of International visitors do not count because International users tend to use IE for the most part. (I might be wrong about that assumption)

  3. Every peice of statistic has some pecualirities associated with it. If you have one or a couple, please do not forget to mention them. So, I am looking for your sitename, your breakup of Mozilla and IE usage percentages, anything peculiar/different about your site and a little comment about the makeup of your site.

All of that being said, please do not hesitate to leave your stats if you run a blog or an International site, any information is good information! :)

Thank you! I will tally up the information and post the results on WeblogToolsCollection after one week.

  3. A lot of my visits are from people looking up Poker Chip Trick Tutorials, so the stats are more in line with the average Joe visitor I would imagine. These are the top 10 broswers for this month:
    CountPercentBrowser

    10799 72% Internet Explorer 6.0
    1320 8.8% Firefox 0.8
    451 3% Internet Explorer 5.5

    206 1.4% Netscape 7.1

    147 1% Mozilla 20040113
    144 1% Internet Explorer 5.0
    110 0.7% Opera 7.50

I have a lot more Mozilla hits coming though, but they are all with different dates appended. If you want a really long list, just let me know.

  4. I use Firefox all of the time. I only use IE when I have to go to websites that don’t work with Firefox. Most of the people that visit my blog are non-technical family types hence the large amount of IE users.

  6. Well, most of the readers of my Blog are technical people since I blog mainly about web design & development stuff & news related to them.
And yet, most of the visitors to website are using IE6.
Here are the stats for the last 450 unique visitors to my blog(http://blog.igeek.info) in this month.

Probably about half of the hits with Mozilla are from me, so I have a fairly even split between Mozilla and IE. The livejournal.com is their syndication service grabbing my RSS feed so that my friends can have my blog on their friends page. I have no idea what NetNewsWire Lite is, but I’m planning to check that out later :)

  9. I have a site with about 2000 pageviews a day, as far as I know nothing extrodinary in its visitors, though there is kind of a hype in the Dutch weblog world about firefox that might explain the rather hight percentage Mozilla users. And we don’t seem to have any NN4.x users… hmmm….weird.

  10. Don`t forget that a lot of User-Agents as the W3c calls them so nicely are able to set their own identity-string. So I can surf with Konqueror and you will see for instance in the stats IE 5….Off course this counts for the more tech-savy oriented sites and not for your average site…
